Commuter diaries - super cycles

Well, does it get any better than this?

Did any of you buy The Times yesterday? I was expecting the Cycling Supplement to be preachy and completely for beginners, as it happens I was mildly surprised!

Apart from Alistair Campbell, who seems to put a spin on anything and everything (excuse the pun), I found the rest of the editorial reaffirming!

Not that my cycling love and lifestyle need reaffirming.

Today, I have cycled along the river with my son to feed the ducks and have been on a 20 mile, gentle evening role, around some county lanes.

Commuter diaries - aaaaaggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Didn't ride today! AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Commuter diaries - "gonna need a bigger boat!"

Do you remember in Jaws when Chief Brody says “gonna need a bigger boat!” , well I’m going to need a bigger garage!

Commuter diaries - varied ride

I have ridden 30 miles today on my single speed; it’s really direct, lively and simple by its very nature, which is what I love!

If you love pedalling then there is no escaping the joy and connection you feel with the ride, it can be hard work, but it’s about effort V reward.

I took in Bristol Bike Fest on route; it was great to see our fat tyred brethren hammering the single track, getting caked in mud and loving it!

Commuter diaries - we just ride here

Great ride yesterday, 20 miles in the Sun, riding my ss with just the essential in my pocket.

Is it me or is cycling everywhere at the moment ranging from Reginald Perrin on the BBC to CSI NY on 5. We no longer seem to be counter culture or even lycra clad subversives are we in danger of becoming main stream and if so would that be a bad thing?

After all that would surely mean more bikes and fewer cars on the road.

Just watched a film about the staff at Santa Cruz Bicycles, called "we just ride here", very inspiring.

Commuter diaries

It's not every morning you wake up to see a 60 foot, lingerie clad woman floating over your garden!

Get out and ride!

Commuter Diaries - Dark side riding, mixing it up!

What a ride home tonight, lashing rain, bonks, hunger and a plastered bike, now that’s what commuting is all about!

With the unusual spate of good weather I have been riding home along the MTB trail which runs parallel to the road. Riding off road really hones your bike handling skills for dodging traffic.

It’s great to have some variety in my riding and really mix up my commute.

Is there anything better than the quintessentially English picture of a bike and rape seed backdrop at this time of year? The rape seed fields are a riot of colour.

Commuter diaries - funny sign, new friends and closed towpaths

Check out the sign in the window of my local BMX shop! Rest assured, "Stolen" are a brand!

The towpath was closed this evening by the Police, nothing serious I hope, I will have to check out the local news.

I ended up riding home with a web designer and surveyer both of whom started cycling very recently. Commuting by bicycle is so liberating it really blows away the detritus of the day.

Commuter diaries - home made parts

I love home made parts, whether they are Heath Robinson or beautifully designed and crafted. Check out this bracket for attaching a cycle trailer, made by my dad; it allows him to attached the trailer or childrens buggy without removing the qr.

If you guys have made anything or used anything to resolve an issue, I would love to hear from you?
