I have just taken the mudguards, bell and any excess gear off my ss road bike to create a cleaner look. Have I made a mistake as a daily cyclepath commuter? I work for myself and have cleaning facilities at work, so does it matter if I get wet? Mudguards or waterproof clothing?

It is summer after all (it rained for 6 hours solid yesterday).

 I missed this in the TDF coverage, Jens Voigt on a Mavic support bike (small) with toe clips, awesome, the real essence of the sport!

What frame is the bike, does anyone know?

Why do pedestrians listen out for cars and when they hear no engine just cross the road without looking?

When you ring a bell some pedestrians look up in the air????

Over the last couple of years I have organised a charity bike ride for the Wooden Spoon (www.woodenspoon.com), a sports based children's charity. The ride has always been open to friends and family to come along and this year I was joined by my father and a close friend. The route has always been flexible covering over 100 miles through scenic countryside. This year we decided upon a 172 mile ride over two days from Bath to Bridgnorth in Shropshire, via the old Severn crossing, through Mid Wales and finally the rolling Salopian hills.
