Lance Watch 7. Now making iPhone users better people too

He did it for Blackberry users and now Lance's Livestrong Foundation has released an calorie counting  app for iPhone types to help them keep track of their daily calorie count and much more besides. Available from the Livestrong Foundation…

The LIVESTRONG.COM Calorie Tracker offers:

Highclere: weighed on the scales

Well my legs feel like they've been through the grinder this morning, yesterday was a fantastic ride but it's always a reality check to ride with people who are much, much fitter than you. I've been feeling pretty good about myself of late, dropped a stone in weight and been getting some more miles in, but yesterday I was weighed on the scales and found wanting... so, what did we learn from the day at Highclere?

A Fully Fitted Fixie - In Leather?

Whilst trawling through the internet I came across this rather extravagantly decorated fixie. It was created by Jacques Ferrand, a trained traditional leather cutter and sewer. Jacques has his own shop, Crèvecoeur (23 r. Des Blancs Manteaux, Paris, France) and normally works on bags, shoes, and belts, either directly for customers under the name Etablissements Ferrand, or for labels such as Hermès but thought he would do something different. He has even covered a few skate boards. Perhaps it is a little quiet in the shop due to the recession?

Hackney City Farm Bike Day

If you live in the London area, this looks like it should be quite a laugh. The lovely people who run Bike Yard East, a community project repairing bicycles, are putting on an event with grass track racing, a cycle jumble which anyone can sell at, a poi show, Dr. Bike, a pageant and music - all cycle powered! Things start at 12pm and the farm closes at 4pm although the party will go on in the barn!

A heart-warming tale of a boy and his bike and a very long journey indeed

Ethan Johnson a teenager from Brisbane with mild Asperger's syndrome was the focus of a nationwide police search when he went missing two weeks ago. Spotted on cctv cameras riding his mountain bike along the Pacific Highway he kept going, unaware of his parent's pleas for him to return home. He lived on fast food and slept in truck stops and when found in Sydney on Good Friday told his parents that he 'rode from when I woke up to when I went to sleep'.

As the legendary Tim Westwood used to say, and possibly still does, respect is due.

Oh we do like to be beside the sea-side

Not satisfied with one trip to the seaside, the Univega and I took an Easter Sunday solo saunter to Mersea Island. It was an opportunity to put some kit through its paces, have a ride, contemplate the faded state of its bar wrap and of course, life in general. This photo is taken at the spot where I was the only five year old on the class trip to get fully immersed and of course, demanding rescue while the tide was out!

Respect for cyclists

I rode the Flanders sportif the other weekend and there were 19,000 riders taking part. I was expecting a few thousand but nothing on this scale. Once we started riding cyclists were everywhere and yet in the total of eight hours I was on the road I never heard one car horn or shout from a car window about us holding up other road users.

Lance Watch 6. Every home should have one…

…of these

"Take a ride on the wild side with Tour, a glass and chrome table fitted with bicycle wheels instead of legs. Designed by Gae Aulenti, the table features a 15 mm-thick float ground-glass top that sits on rotating casters fixed to the top by four stainless steel plates. Perfect for any cycling enthusiast. In fact, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is probably ordering one right about now."

We went away but now we're back

sorry 'bout that, just a bit of downtime while we switched to a new server. a bigger one!

there shouldn't be any gremlins but if you find anything not working, let us know!

A Blast With Burls

A quick thirty- mile Good Friday blast with Mr Burls to Frinton On Sea was the ideal opportunity to play with his geared Russian Ti ballistic missile  I had been quite shamelessly lusting after. Justin had dusted off his equally fetching Campag equipped steel speed wagon built for his own pleasure some seven years previously. Interestingly, like all good mistresses she'd been hiding beneath the bed!
