The final day dawns and the excitement around the camp is tangible.  This would be the day we reached the end of our journey, the last day of riding 100 miles on my bike.  (Let’s face it, after this it might be the last time I ever get on my bike...)

Some had to start extremely early in order to catch their buses, trains or planes!  We didn’t have to start too early, we had been less optimistic about our capabilities and all gone for worst case scenario so our buses weren’t until after 6pm!

In these troubled times when the once fabled Yellow Jersey is tarnished, stained and all but worthless it’s good to know there’s something yellow you can still rely on. That’s right, custard.

And so Rabobank pro cycling team is no more.

The Dutch pro team ends over a decade of involvement at 1030 am this morning when the announcement leaked overnight is confirmed.

Citing the USADA statement as reason to quit the sport at professional level is topical for sure. But is it a convenient smokescreen to save the bank some of its vital marketing Euros at this time?

Looking in the corners of the clothing drawer, prospecting for warmer leg lycra I unearth my old Livestrong bib-shorts.

I’m sure I put them away clean.

When I questioned the Mayor about his involvement in the failure to agree adequate safety improvements to Bow Roundabout when the cycling superhighway was built there, Boris made it very clear that neither he, nor his officers, get involved in the detail of individual cycling schemes.

Earlier in the year myself & the other 2 Hamilton Wheelers resurrected a fixed gear event last held in 2010 - the Tunnel Sprints, held on the Bristol-Bath cycle path late on a Saturday night. We had an unexpectedly large turnout to the night which spurred us on to holding another event, once again bringing back an event that hasn't seen the light of day for a couple of years, a hill climb up the Highridge side of Dundry near Bristol. The event was the fixed gear/singlespeed Hell Climb.
